Period Corsets® in the Thom Browne Fall 2014 Collection

At Period Corsets® we are all about collaboration. We had the pleasure of once again working with Eric Winterling Inc., this time to create some truly outstanding and unique new corsets for the Thom Browne Fall 2014  runway show.

We made our c. 1890 Theodora corset shape in an innovative quilted net material, provided by Eric Winterling Inc, that was commissioned  for the Thom Browne's Fall 2014 fashion show.

The finished design created a structured but delicate look that seemed like it would be soft and flimsy but was astonishingly strong.  The innovation was in the the fabric, 2 layers of net expertly sewn in a grid pattern, which made for a surprisingly durable  piece that held the shape of our corset pattern perfectly.

We created five corsets in total, two navy blue, a beautiful dove gray, and two creme. They were a lovely match to Browne's color palette of warm grays and blacks and wonderful contrast to his menswear style tweeds and tailored garments.

Period Corsets® prides itself on meticulous sewing. That said, extra care in the construction method and precise stitching were paramount to achieve the full effect of these sheer garments as the material would show all of the inner workings.

Thom Browne is a multi-award winning designer, including two wins for Menswear Designer of the Year by the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America).  His designs are truly inspiring with his use of unique textiles and amazing silhouettes. What an honor it was to be part of this collaboration.
