Period Corsets®: view in 360°: Alice Corset circa 1880

We added the Alice c. 1880 corset to our retail line in 2006. We were seeking to capture the tiny  "wasp" waist and full rounded uncompressed bust which denote the silhouette of the Gilded Age.

The Alice is designed to be worn with the long, close-fitting cuirasse bodices of the 1880s. The front panels curve around the bust and hips to accentuate the curves; it includes a center front spoon busk closure controlling the waist and lower torso. The corset has double-boning throughout: the front seams with ¼” spiral bones, the straighter, taller back with ¼” steel bones.

Period Corsets® Kristina Corset: view in 360°

We added the Kristina to our line of corsets in 2004 and it has been a very popular shape for our clients. It works well for Shakespeare to Moliere.

The Kristina c. 1660 corset is rigidly boned with closely spaced 1/4" steel bones. The corset is cut to enhance and lift the bust, and shape the waist. The waist tabs, cut in one with the corset, curve over the hips. The shoulder straps adjust with a front lacing and form the high, off the shoulder neckline, a hallmark of this period. This style is also available without tabs.

The Louisa c. 1725 corset creates a shapely, triangular form, using 1/4" steel and spiral bones, and two layers of coutil. The corset is cut to enhance and lift the bust, and shape the waist. The waist tabs, cut in one with the corset, curve over the hips. The shoulder straps are optional, as this style was often seen without straps.
